Fukushima University will offer the program, “Private-school for reconstruction of Fukushima”

Fukushima University will offer the program, “Private-school for reconstruction of Fukushima” in May to develop young leaders for reconstruction from the earthquake and the nuclear accident. Both ”Utsukushima Fukushima Support Center”, established in the university in April 2011, and enterprises in/related-to Fukushima operate the school. Especially, Kirin Brewery supported a grant of 20 million yen as a part of the “Kirin-Kizuna project for the support of reconstruction.

They offer about 20 lectures for 8months, from May to December in 2013 to 20 of men and women aged 20-39 who have strong resolution to reconstruct Fukushima for the future. Applicants need to fill out the online application by April 12 (with selection). Four initiatives in first year is; “Branding food of Fukushima”, “Creating new industry”, “Fostering a culture that survived the earthquake”, “Developing the environment for the child”.

The mentors for the lectures are; Fuminori Tamba, Associate Professor of administration policy at Fukushima University, Kei Tamagawa, Chief of promotion section for reconstruction at Namie-machi, Hirotaka Kido, executive director of World Federalist Movement of Japan (International NGO), Hirotoshi Kato, President of Job magazine, born in Fukushima.

The program will be planed field works at evacuation zone around nuclear plant in Fukushima and Chernobyl, and lectures by leaders in the field who are active reconstruction.
